Happy April friends! The only April Fool’s joke I played on you this year was the fact that there was no post on Friday – oops! But the good news is we will be making up for it today with new stuff!!
That’s right, I went shopping today for the first time in what feels like forever. After kind of a slumpy (this is a new adjective I just created) end to the month, I decided it was time to treat myself a little and find some new inspiration with the new month. Without further ado, here are some of the things I picked up today. Can’t wait to let you know how they all work out!
Authentic 1969 Destructed True Skinny Jeans
Fact: I have three pairs of jeans that I wear. One pair is black so I don’t even know if that counts. For someone with lots of clothing, I feel like that is a pretty limited amount. With spring just around the corner I have been craving some new ripped jeans (skinny and boyfriend) and today I finally decided it was time to go for it. Gap Jeans are my absolute favourite. They are super comfortable and people always compliment how my butt looks when I wear them. Why would you buy any other pair with a compliment like that? I bought the distressed pair in light indigo which is perfect for spring and I can’t wait to add them as regulars in my weekend wardrobe.
Bi-stretch Skinny Ankle Pants
Gap’s Skinny Ankle Pant is no exception when it comes to my rule of staying loyal to clothing I love. I own these pants in black and have worn them to work at least once a week since I started. You can imagine my excitement when I walked into the Gap today and saw SEVEN new colours/patterns. Unfortunately, they only had my size in cool olive (my first pick) but that’s okay because I got GAPCASH. That means I can head back and get some more soon!
Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation
Ingrid Nilsen is the reason for this purchase. I tried hard to go drugstore beauty as much as possible in an attempt to save money but I just can’t seem to find a foundation that I feel totally comfortable with. As someone who doesn’t use a lot of foundation, I needed some help when settling on something new. Enter Sephora Colour IQ and Caitlin (the super friendly associate) who saved my day. After deliberating back and forth about whether I should ask for help (something I really hate doing in Sephora) I got the new colour IQ done on my face to find my perfect shade. For those of you that don’t know, during the colour IQ process a Sephora employee takes three photos of your skin and you get results as to which beauty products will match your tone. It matches you up with everything in the store and you can go online to view your matches as well. I am still in awe of how wonderful this invention is. Anyways, I got the foundation in Vanille. It is light weight, feels nice on the skin, and leaves a super dewy complexion. I am so excited to experiment with it.
Sephora Collection Classic Sheer Complexion #11 Brush
This is the brush Caitlin used to apply the foundation. She tells me that the white bristles at the end lift the foundation making it easier to blend. Right now, I believe her and I’ve never had a foundation brush so it seemed like a good start! Ingrid said in her favourites video that she prefers the product with a foundation brush as opposed to a beauty blender. Just trying to be flawless like my fave YouTube stars guys!!
Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask To Clear Pores
I don’t know if you have been on the beauty interwebs lately but this mask is ALL anyone is talking about. It is supposed to work wonders for clearing pores. Apparently, charcoal lifts the junk out of your pores which leaves you feeling super fresh! It should be used once a week – I will put it to the test this month and fill you in.
Bumble and Bumble Color Minded Conditioner and Bumble and Bumble Color Minded Shampoo
Obviously these two go together. I’ve heard really good thing about Bumble and Bumble products. Generally, I use drugstore shampoo but it has been leaving my hair kind of icky lately. I decided to test out these shampoos to protect my recently coloured hair and leave me feeling nice! Another fun note: the conditioner can apparently be used as a hair mask if you let it sit for 10 minutes, so I will be testing out the double duty soon!
Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara
Another product that is having a major beauty blogger moment is this Marc Jacobs mascara. If you know anything about me, you’ll know how addicted I am to Diorshow but I’ve decided to see if this lives up to the hype. The packaging is gorgeous and I can’t wait to try this mascara out!
First Aid Beauty Vitamin Hydrating Mist
Big ups to my girl Caitlin because she did some great upselling and sold me this AMAZING product. This has also been featured in Ingrid’s favourites before. Caitlin told me the spray instantly moisturizes your skin which is perfect for the transition between winter and spring. What she really mean was it was great for my super dry forehead this morning. It feels so nice on your skin and makes the perfect primer (especially if you are going for a dewy natural look). Another plus – it smells like grapefruit!
Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash and Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub and Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser
Exciting news for The Body Shop fans! There is a buy two, get one free promotion going on right now. I don’t know if I have ever really discussed skin care on the blog but I use the Tea Tree Oil Collection from the Body Shop and the Simple collection – and that’s it. I’ve used the facial wash for about two years and I love it. It is great for hormonal changes to your skin because the tea tree oil is a great fighter when it comes to breakouts. I’ve never tried the scrub or cleanser so I am looking forward to giving them a try. I hear the scrub is very popular and also light enough that you can use each day if you want.
