March Favourites 2016

March 27, 2016

March is a bit of a strange month. It flips back and forth, teasing you with spring and then dropping to winterlike conditions. For me, March hasn’t been too exciting for beauty favourites as I’ve pretty much stuck to the old faithfuls. Not going to lie to you, there have been a lot of “no-makeup makeup” days lately. I have been spending quite a bit of time netflix and chilling and reading this month, which gives some fun things to share!

March

Favourite Relaxation: Millie Marotta’s Tropical Wonderland
It must be quite obvious that adult colouring books are something I would enjoy because I have been gifted them on more than one occasion. The photos in this specific book are incredibly intricate which make them very fun to colour. I love ending the day with this book. Colouring the pages in is a very time-consuming task but the beautiful pictures you are left with makes it totally worth it!

Favourite Show: The OC
The OC is my go-to when it comes to TV. A couple of my friends started rewatching the series recently so obviously, I decided it was once again time to dust off my box sets too. There is nothing in the world that Seth Cohen and Ryan Atwood can’t fix.

Favourite Memoir: A House in the Sky
I finished House in the Sky yesterday morning. The book is an emotional rollercoaster and not for the faint of heart. Amanda Lindhout shares her story of being abducted in Somalia and held captive for 15 months. I was inspired by Amanda’s bravery throughout the entire experience and it encouraged me to rethink the way I live my day-to-day life. Highly recommend this read!

Favourite Album: Thomas Rhett – Tangled Up
Okay guys, it started with T-shirt but now I just can’t get enough of this ENTIRE album. There are fast songs, slow songs, high songs and low songs. I want to dance to it, I want to cry to it and I want to fall in love to it. If that isn’t what makes a great country album then I don’t know what does. All I can say is I am currently counting down the days to experience the songs live.

Favourite Lip: Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm
Sephora takes such good care of their VIB members (a status I recently achieved). Just before Christmas, I picked up the Clinique set with my points and it included this chubby stick. It took me months to pick it up and test it out – boy, do I regret that! Moisturizing is right when it comes to this this product. The stick gives a great pigment (I have curviest caramel) but doesn’t dry out your lips which makes it perfect for the winter season!

Favourite Mascara: Benefit Roller Lash
This old fave has been covered before but I rediscovered it in my makeup bag. I have been pairing this mascara with a cat eye lately and it makes me feel like I have false lashes. It holds really well throughout the day even when I’m working out. I love that even when I’m having a super chill makeup day, this mascara makes me feel like a million bucks.

Favourite Polish: Cupcakes and Cashmere Formula X Collection in Latte Run
It is safe to say that Emily’s Formula X collaboration is the answer to my nail polish prayers. I have been looking for a nude pink for as long as I can remember but have never been successful. Not only does this hold the colour on your nail (often after only one coat) but it looks SO good with my skin tone. It makes me feel super professional and chic. Obviously, it has become my signature colour. I also bought Peach Tea, which is equally as gorgeous and creamy. The only concern I have about the product is that I need to buy it all before they sell out forever!

Favourite Tear Jerker: Me Before You
If you haven’t read this book yet go out and buy it before the movie comes out. I am slowly working my way through the books I have collected over the last year and Me Before You was my lastest read. Without giving too much away, the story is about two very different people based in the same small town in England. It was beautifully written love story that made me laugh and cry.. I fell in love with the characters and felt a real connection to their stories. Me Before You was one of those books that makes you sad once you realize it is over. Even if you don’t read the story, I hope you see the upcoming movie so you too can fall in love with Louisa and Will.

Favourite Oscar Movie: Spotlight
Truth be told, I don’t think I saw any of this year’s Oscar-nominated movies before the award show. I didn’t even hear about Spotlight until Oscar night but I watched it the day after the show. The story and the acting were incredible. The movie showed journalists appreciation that I’m not sure they receive enough of. If you are looking for something to make you think, I would definitely recommend this movie.

What have you loved this month?

I loved Me Before You and recommend it to all my friends if they haven’t already read it! The sequel, After You, was good but didn’t quite require as many tissues 🙂 haha

It is such a good book Amanda! I totally checked your blog to see your thoughts – I only found your review of After You but I have to wait until I read it before I can read the post!
