Ah summer – my favourite time of the year. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, concerts are outdoors and my wallet is a little emptier because I’m busy living my life. We haven’t checked in with favourites in a while so what better way to start off the summer blogging than to let you know what I’ve been loving lately!
Sephora Bronze Bares All Set
I’m not sure if I mentioned it last year but my bestie, Krista, bought me the Sephora Favourites bronze set and I became instantly obsessed. I love a good collection of nude items – I personally like to joke that my closet is as neutral as Switzerland. This year’s Sephora Favourites Bronze Bares All set was equally impressive, hosting cult favourites like NARS Laguna and Becca’s Opal highlighter. Obviously, I bought the set and have been wearing pretty much nothing but that ever since. It is the perfect summer set to keep you looking fresh faced in any warm weather activity.
Love & Lemons cookbook
Love & Lemons‘ cookbook was all over my Instagram feed before it even hit stores. So naturally I had to pick it up the second I saw it in Chapters. The vegetarian cookbook is super unique because it outlines the “throw together” type of cooking I strive to be good at. It is also broken down into vegetables as opposed to meals, which I love because it makes it easy to use up what you have in the fridge. So far, I’ve made the cauliflower rice burrito bowls and could not recommend them more!
Fabletics Sylvia Bra
FREE BRA ALERT. Got this bad boy with a purchase on National Yoga day from Fabletics. As a self-proclaimed Lululemon addict, my friends and family will attest to this, I am surprisingly a very big fan of the clothes I have bought from Fabletics so far. I do tend to skip a lot of months because my exercise drawer is overflowing with options. But, I have found the clothes to be very soft and comfortable while also being easy to workout in. Way to go, Kate Hudson! This bra has great support for running and looks SO cute.
Laneige Water Sleeping Mask
My skincare routine has improved drastically over the last year – probably because I am getting old…lol. Regardless, I have become a mask aficionado and this one is at the top of the class. First of all, it is ideal for even the laziest of beauty chicks because all you have to do is put it on and go to sleep. You’ll wake up feeling refreshed, clean and looking better than ever. Stamp of approval on this beautiful product.
Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray
This has been a cult favourite for a long time. If you follow me on Instagram, shameless plug, it will be no surprise to you that I love a beachy wave. Unlike most people, I rarely use products in my hair because I have been blessed with thick hair that does what she wants. However, I have been loving adding the surf spray to my hair for a little added texture and to make me feel like I’ve been hanging out at the beach even when I am sitting in front of a computer at work all day.
China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy
Last summer, one of my coworkers told me that she always picks bright colours for her toes because it makes her feel like she feels like a party when she sees them in the shower. This may seem crazy to you but it made total sense to me and I have followed that thinking ever since. My last pedicure was when I found my PERFECT shade to encourage the fun response from looking at my toes and I have now added this beautiful neon to my collection. It is unlikely that I will paint my nails anything other than this bright coral shade from now on.
Ellie Goulding Only You lipstick
Have you ever had a product that you lusted over for months but could never find in the store? Well this lipstick was mine. I had lost all hope of owning it when the limited edition shade was not found until my friend Kayley surprised me with it SIX MONTHS LATER for my birthday. This stellar surprise has left me with the ultimate light pink lips that I can wear to the office pretty much every day.
A couple years ago my boss asked me to participate in a mindful meditation session while I was going to school. I really enjoyed it but have never taken the chance to learn more about it. Mindfulness is one of the buzzwords of the year so naturally I have once again jumped on the bandwagon, this time in an app form. In trying to balance my life, I downloaded the Headspace app which gets you started with meditation through ten 10 minute sessions. Once you have completed the introductory Take Ten course, you can branch off into different options that help with a variety of issues like sleep, stress, anxiety and more!
Tone It Up Yoga Mat
There are certain things in the world that are worth a little bit more money. After purchasing this, I realized that yoga mats are one of them. Why you ask? Well that’s because they provide more support when you are attempting tough workouts and straight up it is nice to have nice things. This mat is beautiful with the standard K&K brand colours and is thick enough to help you push through a tough yoga or HIIT session.
Orange is the New Black
Imma let myself finish this post in a minute but – this season of OITNB is the BEST season of all time. The forth season of everyone’s favourite show was heartbreakingly sad (even after spoilers ruined the end for me) but still so good. In my opinion, much better than the previous season and so relevant to what is going on in the world right now. Slow clap for the writers and everyone else involved.
Last Year Was Complicated
Duh, Nick Jonas’ new album is obviously on here because I love him. I am not ashamed as a 24-year-old human to admit that I have been blasting this album (mostly Bacon) on repeat since it came out. I even surprised a teenager last weekend when I listed off each track of the album from memory. You’re welcome JB fans.
What have you been loving lately? Happy August!
