Today, I had planned to post a really cute article about the Tone It Up community which unintentionally fit perfectly with the fact that yesterday was International Women’s Day. As much as I enjoyed the idea of that post, when I went to write it the words just weren’t coming to me. This is a feeling that I have been continuously struggling with for the last couple of days.
The goods news is we made it over the hump and I see the light – literally, I have seen sunshine over the last couple of days and it is greatly improving my mood. There are many lessons I have learned over the years to share about days that you are not feeling your best but maybe I’ll save the deep ones for a series sometime later.
Without further ado, here are a couple of things to improve your day when you need a pick-me-up:
Nothing feels better than taking the time to spoil yourself. Sometimes that means shopping (hey, we can’t save all the time). Other times it means taking the time to do nice things for you – like taking a little longer to get a deep clean on your face or painting your nails perfectly. I always try to keep some face masks and bath bombs on hand for days that I just can’t even. Bonus points for lighting a scented candle to make you even more of a basic betch.
Shopping may be your cardio, Carrie Bradshaw, but endorphins are your friends. You don’t need to put yourself down for cardio necessarily but some sort of sweat sessions is basically guaranteed to make you feel more alive. You don’t even need to face the daunting task of going to the gym or being social – take a tour around YouTube for body weight exercise or yoga videos to get the glow!
My best winding down discovery of the last few weeks has been doing something creative. Whether you feel like going to a paint class, scrapbooking, writing something (anything!) or colouring in your adult colouring book, letting your brain work through imagination can do really wonderful things.
That’s it for the tricks I will share with you today. You want to know why? Because I encourage you to disconnect from what’s around you, aka the computer you are currently reading this on, and start living at least one moment of your life with just you.
Enjoy the peace!
