Have you watched Chelsea Does on Netflix yet? In a nutshell, Chelsea Handler explores different subjects that peak her interest. The documentary series includes conversations with her families and friends along with psychologists. She travels to locations in order to learn more about the topic. The theme of the show has been translated into her new talk show, Chelsea. Being a life long learner myself, I love this idea of exploring points of interest in the world. You should always work to better yourself and if you would like to know more about it – I say research!
Lately my topic of choice has been veganism. Personally, I think vegans are great. I don’t subscribe to a vegan lifestyle but I do spend more than enough time watching videos on Hot For Food‘s YouTube channel. After a summer of vegan/vegetarian food fests, I was drawn to the topic and have been exploring a variety of resources when it comes to vegan cooking and sustainability through food. Below you will find my first steps into learning more about veganism – most importantly, how vegans eat and the idea of sustainability.
I am obsessed with vegan what I ate in a day videos and vegan cooking channels on YouTube. Seriously, I can’t get enough – I get lost for hours in a spiral of vegan breakfast challenges and fake cheese taste tests pretty much every week. Two of my favourite vegan channels are Hot for Food and the Edgy Veg. Both are Toronto-based vegans cooking up delicious things that will keep you laughing! As someone who is beginning to introduce myself to a mostly plant-based diet, these are great resources for ideas on snacks and lunches.
One of my friend’s mom told me this movie changed her life. To be honest, I have always shied away from watching vegan documentaries due to a fear of watching animal torture. I realize this is quite pathetic and very basic of me but it is true. But I heard that this documentary was different because it focused on the impact veganism has on the sustainability of the world. It’s funny that we rarely stop to think about how what we eat is impacting our world. I would recommend everyone watch this movie – regardless of the outcome on your personal habits, it is a conversation worth being a part of.
Fave vegan cookbooks
You know I can’t talk about a vegan lifestyle without exploring the food aspect of it. Some of my current favourite cookbooks are vegan! Vegan bloggers have been popping up on bookshelves across the world as this lifestyle gains momentum. My personal favourites are Oh She Glows (obviously), Love and Lemons and the Minimalist Baker.
