Autumn and winter undoubtedly win the fashion game. I mean sure, summer is my favourite season when it comes to being outside and not suffering from SAD, but there is no doubt that fashion was made for fall. While I haven’t yet committed to the capsule wardobe phenomenon of the girl world, I do take the time each season to assess my closet and plan for the upcoming months. We’ve talked in the past about spring and holiday looks so today let’s cover outfits I plan to rock as the weather chills out a bit!
Dinner with the girls
What’s cooler than being cool? Being Gigi Hadid obviously. I’ve already enlisted the help of my most fashionable friend to help my find a bomber jacket while I am in London. Every it girl in the world has been rocking the bomber. This look mixes Baby Spice with a cool PR girl classic black-on-black look. I think it is perfect for a casual dinner at a new restaurant or being out and about pretending to be caught by paparazzi unexpectedly – naturally this is something we normal folk all need to worry about.
Apple picking is a total basic betch move. Naturally, I spent more time planning apple picking outfits than what I am going to wear to work on Monday. I’m obsessed with the long cardi trend this season and have purchased everything from long sleeve cardigans to a knit long black sweater vest from the Gap. Long sweaters are ideal for layering which is the best move of the A/W season. Pair this with a simple shirt, jeans and a cute boot and you’ll be ready to go from apple picking to a family party with your freshly baked apple pie!
Monday Morning Meeting
Mondays can be rough. Over the past two years, I have developed a general rule that the more tired you feel the more effort you should put it. This will make you look good and also will, hopefully, lead to compliments which instantly brighten your day. I am super excited that a-line skirts and camel have made a comeback. This is one of my favourite outfits to wear when I feel like channelling London – because it is proper, neutral and clean. Another one of my favourite thing about fall is darker lips are back! Neutral outfits mean you can add an extra pop of colour with the lips. I have been loving Marc Jacob’s lipstick lately and hope to get some new shades for fall.
I don’t know if you’ve heard (impossible if we have had any conversations over the last month) but I will be travelling for the next two weeks. I got inspiration for this outfit from The Blonde Abroad‘s post on what to pack for a week in Iceland and intend to wear it while I visit. I’m a big fan of cute and comfy wear when I explore a city. My Iceland itinerary is filled with tours around to see some of the world’s natural wonders. I can’t wait to put my new quilted J. Crew vest to the test on a journey around the Golden Circle. For those of you not on vacation this month, try this outfit out on a Saturday evening adventure to the pumpkin patch or go on a hike in your own area to enjoy the changing of the leaves!
I’m obsessed with my current favourite paisley dress (check out the upcoming haul post to see it)! The shape of this dress is super flattering and can wear it no matter how you feel about your body that day. This outfit is adorable to throw on for work or wear to grab a coffee and stroll around the farmer’s market admiring pumpkins. You may have noticed a trend in this post with shoes. My name is Kirsti and I am addicted to the lace-up trend – see below for more information.
Girl’s Night Out
The best part of my October is being reunited with my girlfriends across the world. My friends and I will be exploring during the day and getting up to our usual Toronto shenanigans at night. The only difference will be the scenery. For this, I plan to pull out a lace up long sleeve, token dark berry lip, a (semi) perfect winged liner and booties.
