Another 31 days have passed and it is already November! WHERE DOES THE TIME GO GUYS?! This may be my most exciting favourites for a while as I am GOING TO LONDON in January (two months and two weeks from now to be exact) – so I will be doing my very best to save my money as that date approaches. Luckily, I tested out a bunch of stuff this month and there are quite a few things I have fallen in love with to share!
Favourite Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter Topcoat
Nail polish gods do exist – they work at Essie and are responsible for this topcoat. I used to fall victim to chipped and ruined polish every time I painted my nails, which led me to spending outrageous amounts of money getting shellac manicures. I have been using this topcoat for three weeks and I have only had to paint my nails THREE TIMES. My nails legitimately stay perfect for at least a week – no chipping with this topcoat!
Favourite BB Cream: L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream in Fair 810
This is the third BB Cream I have tried since I first heard about them. I don’t really need a ton of coverage on my face but I like a little coverage to make things even, which is where BB cream comes in. Opting for a cheaper option than the Smashbox BB Cream I was using before – I tried this and I am in LOVE! It is perfect for everyday makeup – super light weight and good coverage which is exactly what want from a BB cream. It has also been matching well with my skin that is becoming paler by the day. The BB cream also starts off white and blends to your skin like magic – making me feel like Harry Potter every morning!
Favourite Lips: Maybelline Colour Sensational in Untainted Spice
This lipstick was a gift from Kayley when she cleaned out her makeup. I’ve been working hard to bring up my lip game over the last year and this is a GREAT addition to my fall shades. It is neutral, which I obviously love, but also adds just enough colour to make people notice the change in my face’s “wardrobe”.
Favourite Eyeliner: Sephora Eye Pencil to Go in Pure White
Tyra Banks inspired my latest eyeliner purchase at Sephora. I vividly remember watching the Tyra Show and learning her trick of using white liner on the bottom lash line to insistently look more awake. I’ve been quite tired throughout this month and this seems to be doing the trick!
Favourite Brow Product: Revlon Brow Fantasy in Dark Brown
I am in love with my Anastasia Dipbrow just like every other Sephora-loving chick I know but I wanted to try out something else just for the days I am feeling too lazy to apply it. I’m really into the easy nature of this gel/pencil set from the local drugstore. It is a great alternative as I attempt to let my brows grow for a while so I can get them properly shaped (not my favourite hobby).
Favourite Concealer: L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Concealer in Fair Light
I bought this concealer after a terrible experience at MAC that crushed my hopes and dreams. I was at MAC pretty last minute one night last spring and the salesperson assured me that NW120 did not exist. I should have known better as I have been a cult user of the product since I discovered it in 2010 – but I felt so guilty about breaking my retail-experience rule of “never go shopping with less than an hour until closing” that I trusted the girl’s statement and purchased NC120. The concealer is TOTALLY wrong for my skin and I have been trying to find a replacement ever since. I’ve only been using the True Match concealer for about a week but it seems to be working well so far. It is lightweight but has good coverage and my sensitive skin is reacting better to it than the Maybelline concealer I was previously using.
Favourite Palette: Urban Decay Naked Palette
Yes, this palette comes up on my favourites a lot. I misplaced my go-to Mac Naked Lunch eyeshadow this month and rediscovered my love of my Naked palette. This handy palette has lasted me such a long time and I still love it as much as the first day I bought it. I’ve been using Naked and Buck as my everyday look pretty much all month!
Favourite Songs: Sorry – Justin Bieber and Perfect – One Direction
This month has been FIRE for new music with TONS of my favourite pop artists about to drop huge albums. These two songs have been playing non-stop on my iPod and I would be perfectly okay if they never left my head. For the record, I accept Justin’s apology and I am perfect for Harry/Liam.
Favourite Face Treat: Mask Bar by Look Beauty Brightening Sheet Mask
My friends have been sending my snapchats with sheet masks for ages and I finally picked some up this month. I love a good face mask but I get super impatient while wearing them. Sheet masks look ridiculous but are super easy to put on and forget about – allowing me to do other important tasks (like paint my nails). I am quickly developing a Sunday evening habit of wearing them and at approximately $12 for 3 masks – Shoppers is doing a great job of supplying my addiction.
Favourite Cookbook: SkinnyTaste Cookbook
If you have ever been to this blog before, you have probably recognized my obsession with the SkinnyTaste Cookbook. I whipped up quite a few salads this month and, as always, was quite impressed with the delicious turnouts!
Favourite Dress: Dynamite Shirt Dress
This patterned dress is so not me but I have surprisingly worn it quite a bit since I purchased it last month. It is super easy to dress up or down and is great to just throw on – which has been helpful on days I have struggled to get out of the comfort of my bed. I also wore this dress to my grad this week – which means it has a memory attached to it as well!
What have you been loving this month?
