We have once again reached the time of the month where we collectively gather and wonder how time flew by us so quickly. With summer behind us, we must be careful not to blink or we’ll miss the wonderful pumpkin-spiced season. As we venture together into fall, let’s celebrate some of the things that brought me excitement over the last month!
Gap 1969 Resolution True Skinny High-rise Jeans
I have been meaning to update my jean wardrobe for about 5 years (also know as the number of years I have been wearing American Eagle jeans). After buying my first pair of Gap dress pants last year I was convinced that Gap knew how to make pants that worked well with my body. With the notice of a 40% sale and the opportunity to collect GAPCASH, I bit the bullet and purchased two pairs of the high-rise jeans. I don’t care what Ryan Gosling thinks, I love Gap jeans and will be wearing them for a long time.
The September gods are smiling on us and PSL season has arrived again. With Orientation dates a plenty this month; I have had a VERY serious relationship with Starbucks. This year’s fall cups are making the season even cuter, therefore, the queen of coffee deserves a shout out.
Lord of Misrule Bathbomb
Bath bombs are one of my favourite simple ways to spoil myself. On my last trip to Lush, I picked up this new one (thanks to the recommendation of the sales associate). It smells like heaven and the wine-coloured middle leaves your bath looking absolutely beautiful!
Evernote is the greatest invention of all time. When it comes to organization, I am old school and prefer to do things with paper and pen. However, Evernote is the closest I have ever been to getting into organization during the technological age. My responsibilities at work are currently very dependent on research and I love the ability Evernote gives me to incorporate all my notes into one place. On top of that, my account connects to both of my computers and phone which means I can take it everywhere!
I am cuckoo for Karlie’s Kookies. Toronto is lucky enough to have our very own Milk bar, the wonderful creation of Christina Tosi, but I have never had the opportunity to try the cookies created by my favourite supermodel Karlie Kloss. One of my coworkers returned from a trip to New York on Monday with a supply of Karlie’s Kookies just for me! Coco Kookie was my personal favourite of the gluten-free treats sweetened with maple syrup. The sweetness of my cookie and coworker were enough to become a last-minute addition to my list!
Beauty Behind the Madness
WOW – can we take a minute to discuss the AMAZING music that has been released this month?! I can’t believe I had to narrow my album love down to only one for this list but I didn’t want to keep you here all day. Beauty Behind the Madness has consistently been on my radar since the day of release and is arguably one of my favourite albums of all time. The fact that the Weeknd is one of the many talented artists coming from Toronto makes me beam with pride every time I sing along. P.S. going to see him in November, so this is not the end of my obsession.
Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara
A very serious Sephora haul took place this month resulting in a TON of new beauty faves. Roller Lash is great because you can change the level of drama easily by applying more of the lightweight formula to your lashes. Sometimes splurging on mascara can be a disappointing experience, but Roller Lash is definitely worth the price. Aside from its ultra-cute exterior, the mascara certainly provides the lengthening and curl that it promises without irritating my eyes or rubbing off throughout the day.
Aziz Ansari – Modern Romance
Aziz won his way into my heart through his 2010 MTV Movie Awards monologue where he questioned the reality of 3D movies. I’ve enjoyed watching his stardom grow through the years on Parks & Rec and a variety of comedy specials. Naturally, I was excited to see his face on the cover of a book and bought it right away. It wasn’t until I got home and read the description that I realized I was about to go on a new sociological journey with Aziz’s as he explored modern romance. Although the book is very different than I expected, it was certainly an interesting read that I would recommend to others!
Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed – Champagne Pop
If you want skin as perfect as a Cullen, Becca and Jaclyn Hill have created the product for you! I would recommend this highlighter to everyone. I’ve been adding this product even on days when I want to wear no makeup and it still has the ability to make me feel like a million bucks.
Maple Agave Lip Mask Bite Beauty
Remember here when I said I would likely become a brand ambassador for Bite if their other products were are good as the high pigment pencil? Well, just call me That’s So Raven because I correctly predicted becoming a full-blown Bite Beauty convert! This lip mask is another purchase from my Sephora Haul and it is essentially fall in a tube. The mask is literally infused with REAL maple syrup. The tint is super translucent and my favourite for natural days that you feel like looking as though you are wearing nothing. Can you see a pattern of my no-makeup vibes this month? Throw this on your lips, sip some pumpkin spiced lattes, and have a basic fall day.
Demetri Martin: Live at the Time
Stand-up comedies are my go-to for before bed Netflix time. Generally, they are a non-committal, easy to fall asleep to option with a couple of laughs before bed. Demetri Martin’s special, however, is something to commit to. I laughed my head off to his observational humor and stayed up to watch the whole thing – not always something I can do after a long day!
Nails Inc. Gel Effect in New Oxford Street
My friend Kayley hooked me up with this polish last year and it is safe to say my life hasn’t been the same since. Gel Effects is the best formula I’ve ever tried. And with burgundy being my favourite fall colour, it is obvious why this has been the only thing on my nails all month long. My bank account is thankful for my discovery of this polish because it saves me from shellac manis every other week!
What have you been loving this month?
